Group will begin with an explanation of the risks and benefits of the breathwork technique. This is an intense style of breathwork that is designed to challenge you and teach you control and calm in the face of stress. It involves short, guided periods of hyperventilation followed by periods of breath holding, with guided mindfulness meditation in between rounds. The goal of this technique is to show you that you are in control of your body and reactions in the face of stress, and with the right mindset, that stress and anxiety melts away. While this technique is not for everyone, a vast majority of people who practice it have profound experiences even after just one session.
Dr. McHenry has extensive clinical experience in the areas of mental health and addiction recovery and is a member of the Psychiatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
To make the experience more comfortable, feel free to bring your own yoga mat, blanket, and yoga block or pillow.
